Maersk have announced they will completely leave Russia. Initially the shipping line stopped taking bookings on all services (air, sea, land transport) and after it’s annual meeting with shareholders the decision was taken to sell all assets in Russia.
Currently, every third container in Russia belongs to Maersk. According to Alphaliner, Maersk is one of four operators (Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM and COSCO) who control 58% of Russia’s shipping market.
Other leaders in shipping also made the decision to leave Russia – this includes Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Yang Ming. A number of other operators using smaller terminals have pulled out too. COSCO continues to serve Russian ports as normal, the only carrier of the world’s top 6 that still service the sanction imposed nation.« Previous Next »
